  1. They open the invoice.

    The PayNow QR is on the invoice PDF and in the invoice email. If they booked through your booking page, it's on the checkout page too, with one QR per invoice.

  2. They scan it with their banking app.

    The amount shows SGD 1,284.50, and they can't change it. The reference already says INV-42.

  3. They confirm.

    The money goes to your business PayNow account.

Taking a deposit? Bill it as its own invoice, then invoice the rest on a second one. Each invoice has its own QR, so your customer's banking app fills in S$500.00 for the deposit and S$784.50 for the balance.

Some banking apps let your customer edit the reference before they confirm. The amount stays locked either way.

On your booking checkout page, your customer also gets a button to WhatsApp you their payment screenshot. The message is already written for them, with the invoice number and amount.

What you still do

PayNow doesn't tell chatavocado when your customer pays, so the last step is still yours.

  1. Check your bank for the payment.
  2. Search your invoice list for the invoice number on the statement line.
  3. Mark that invoice paid in chatavocado. You do this one invoice at a time.
  4. If the invoice is for a booking, your customer gets the booking confirmation email when you mark the first payment.

The money goes straight to your own account

  • The money goes straight into your own PayNow account, using your UEN.
  • There's no payment provider in between, and chatavocado takes no fee per payment.
  • Card payments on your booking page can carry a card fee you set. PayNow payments don't.

What it takes to switch it on

Add your UEN and the payee name in your booking payment settings. If you want PayNow on your booking checkout page, turn it on there too.

Then pick PayNow as the payment method on each invoice. Term invoices for classes use PayNow by default.

PayNow invoice questions

Can my customer change the amount?

No. The QR locks the amount, so their banking app shows it but won't let them edit it. They pay exactly what's still owed on the invoice.

Will every payment show the invoice number?

The invoice number is already filled in as the reference. Some banking apps let your customer edit it before they confirm, so some payments may still arrive without it. The amount is always the exact one.

Will chatavocado tell me when a customer has paid?

No. PayNow doesn't send us a payment signal. You check your bank, find the invoice by its number and mark it paid. An invoice only shows as paid once you do.

What if I take a deposit?

Bill the deposit as its own invoice, then invoice the rest on a second one. Each invoice has its own QR for its own amount. Marking an invoice paid settles the whole invoice, so you can't mark part of one paid.

Do you take a fee on PayNow payments?

chatavocado takes no fee per PayNow payment, and there's no payment provider in between. Card payments on your booking page can carry a card fee you set. PayNow payments don't.

What do I need to set up?

Your UEN and payee name in your booking payment settings. Then pick PayNow as the payment method on each invoice. Turn on PayNow at booking checkout if you want it there.

Can I mark several invoices paid at once?

No. You mark each invoice paid on its own. The invoice number on your bank statement makes each one quick to find.
